Wineries of Cafayate
Cafayate offers an accessible and welcoming wine tasting experience. Most wineries are located in the town itself or in its surroundings, making it easy to visit them on foot or by bicycle. Between downtown wine bars and tasting rooms at the wineries themselves, there are options for every palate.
Tastings & Wine Bars
Cafayate has wine bars in the center of town and tasting rooms at the wineries themselves. The wine bars are perfect for sampling the region's wines without committing to a full winery visit, while the bodegas offer the complete vineyard experience.
Bad Brothers Wine & Food Experience
Half a block from the main plaza in a beautifully restored old colonial house, Bad Brothers is Cafayate's most complete wine and dining experience. They offer the only dedicated extreme-altitude wine tastings in town, featuring wines from vineyards at 1,700 to 2,680 meters. The internationally-inspired menu ranges from shared plates and picadas to Argentine parrilla. Book a personalized wine blending session with their in-house sommelier for a truly hands-on experience. The garden terrace with live music makes it a great evening destination.
Bodega Amalaya Wine Bar
Set against stunning views of Cerro San Isidro, Amalaya's wine bar combines regional cuisine designed for sharing with guided tastings of their six exclusive varietals — wines you can only try here. Choose from classic or extended tasting flights, or try their hands-on wine blending experience where you create your own blend. Reservations required.
Chato's Wine Bar
A Cafayate institution since 2008, this intimate wine bar on San Martín 223 is run by Eduardo "Chato" Cruz, a passionate and knowledgeable English-speaking host. The beautiful custom wine barrel tables are handcrafted by Chato himself. Order a five-wine tasting flight with a traditional picada and let Eduardo guide you through the region's best whites, rosés, and reds. Open daily from 7 PM.
