APRIL

April 11th. Traditional Branding at Estancia Carpanchay. Goats and cows are branded at Estancia Carpanchay, called La Sala, located at 3,000 meters above sea level. Anyone can participate in this unique experience. Camping is required. Once the traditional branding is done, everyone gathers to cook and eat traditional foods, sing songs, dance, and make a bonfire to tell stories. Max, a local guide we recommend, can assist you. April 11 and 12, 2025: CatArte Wine Festival.  CatArte Wine Festival will hold its first edition in the Calchaquí Valleys, becoming one of the most relevant wine tourism, food, and cultural experiences in our country. Over 30 wineries and 100 labels will participate, and you’ll enjoy local musicians, artists, and gastronomy. Tickets are available at https://catarte.com.ar/tickets/

April 14-20: High Altitude Malbec Day. For 12 years the High Altitude Malbec Day, a partnership between the Salta government, Wines of Argentina, Bodegas de Salta, and the Museum of Vines and Wine,  celebrates the unique character the terroirs of the Calchaquí Valley contribute to Malbec, the most globally renown Argentinean grape variety. There are activities throughout the week at the museum.

CIENEGUITA FIESTA: La Cieneguita is a place nestled in the Quebrada de las Conchas, celebrated in April. The scenery is beautiful, but it’s not easily accessible. Ask a local tour operator for details or contact Max, a local guide we recommend. Message him at:+54 9 3873 07-9114.

April 30 – May 4: WINEEX:  A wine expo, with a gastronomic, cultural, sporting, folklore, and music kicks off on April 30 with a wine pairing presented by Bernabe Simon Padros, a Lima-based gastronomy expert, and Cafayate wine legend Marcos Etchart with a food and wine experience for just 25 people. Located at the Etchart family’s historic hacienda.

May 1: WineEx Welcome events: Participants will be welcomed at Finca el Recreo followed by sporting events, including a Polo, Golf, and Tennis Tournament at La Estancia de Cafayate, along with wines from Pancho Lavaque and Casa Croixe cuisine.  A guitar performance at the San Pedro de Yacochuya bodega will feature folklore, gastronomy, a visit to the winery, and a tasting of its iconic wines.

May 2: WineEx Cachengue. Cachengue Music at sunset with DJs Tomás Dobarro, Juani Laborda, Andy Klix, and guest artists. (Polo, golf, and tennis tournaments will take place during the morning.)

May 3: WineEx Electronica and Wine Fair: Tournaments will take place in the morning, followed by a Wine Fair featuring the best wineries in the Calchaquí Valley. This event continues with an electronic music party featuring renowned DJs and Casa Croixe cuisine, and the sports awards ceremony.

May 4: WineEx Closing Barbecue at Viñas en Flor Winery.

May 3 & 4 CERRO DE LA CRUZ HIKING: Between May 3rd and 4th, people climb to the top of the San Isidro mountain during the day, light the large cross at the top, and spend the night there while awaiting the religious celebration.
